Fred Pifer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkes Funeral Home - Vidalia on Mar. 13, 2026.
Fred Pifer, 64, of Vidalia, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. He was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, and moved to Georgia in 1979, where he lived most of his life.

Fred was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School in Plymouth, PA, and earned a Bachelor of Ministry Degree from Brewton Parker College and a Master of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins. During that time, the Lord called him into the gospel ministry, and Fred yielded to that call. He served Jesus Christ devotedly as Pastor of Red Bluff Baptist Church in Soperton, GA; Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Garfield, GA; and First Baptist Church in Metter. He was employed at Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Power Plant in Baxley for thirteen years until his retirement in 2022.

Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, riding his motorcycle, and he especially loved watching his sons participate in sports. He will be remembered for his love of Jesus, his love for others, his diligent study and preaching and teaching of the Word, and his jovial laughter.

He is predeceased by his father, Fredrick H. Pifer and his young sister, Mary Jo Pifer. Fred leaves behind two sons, Justin Pifer (Hannah) of Concord, NC, and Brandon Pifer of Vidalia; his mother, Jean Pifer, of Kingston, PA; one brother, John Pifer (Sondra), of Luzerne, PA; grandsons, Connor Pifer and Cole Pifer of Concord, NC; and former wife, Lori Cheek Pifer, of Vidalia.

No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice Foundation, P O Box 2277, Vidalia, GA, 30475, or to Trinity Baptist Church, 2141 Adams Street, Vidalia, GA, 30474

I am so sorry to hear of Brother Fred´s passing! He was so dear to our family! He was such a wonderful influence on my children, while pastoring at RedBluff Baptist Church! He taught them so much! While I was at school, he would come play Jeopardy with Rusty and Ashlee while also ministering to them! He will be missed dearly, he was loved by many! Praying and sending by deepest condolences to all his family! The Davis family´s heart is broken!
