Fred Rayton Obituary
Mr. Luther Fred Rayton, age 84 of Hartwell, GA., passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Piedmont Athens Regional surrounded by love.
He was born July 15, 1940 to the late Cullen and Annie Clara Rayton. Luther worked at Hinton Lumber Company for 24 years and he also worked at Rowland Roofing Company until he was disabled. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being an overall amazing father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents,daughter, Cheryl Rayton Bates, sisters, Dollie Maxwell, Edna Rayton and Cornelia Rayton, brothers, Wyllie Rayton, Cullen Rayton, Jr., Tom Rayton, Cee Rayton and Willie Rayton and special friend, Lammie Brown.He leaves to cherish his memories, siblings, Geraldine (Stewart) Heard, Ralp (Doris) Rayton, sons, Luther, Jr. Rayton, Randy Dale Rayton, daughters, Freddie Glaze and Gloria Dean Rayton Oglesby. Fifty one grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Rayton will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Two o'clock in the chapel of Coile and Hal Funeral Directors. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Garden of Prayer. Family members will be at the home on Reynolds Street in Hartwell.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors and Crematory, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
