DR. FRED ROBERTSON Fred R. Robertson, III, DVM, 65, of 142 Amherst Drive died on May 8, 2010 at his home. He was born on June 29, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Fred R. Robertson, Jr. and Martha Blount Robertson. He attended the Marion Military Institute and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1970. He moved to Greenwood the following year to practice veterinary medicine at the Greenwood Veterinary Hospital first with Dr. Lee Rogers and later with Dr. Michael Walden. He was devoted to his employees, clients and animals and loved them all very much. He married the love of his life, Lynn Anderson Robertson in 1973. They have two children, Leah Robertson Maybry and husband Luke of Charlotte, NC and Jonathan Seth Robertson and wife Becky of Mt. Pleasant, SC; six grandchildren, Hunter Elizabeth Robertson, Reilly Jean Robertson and Brody Wells Robertson, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Julia Wells Maybry, Caroline McClain Maybry and John Robertson Maybry, all of Charlotte, NC; his mother-in-law, Barbara Anderson of Greenwood. He loved his family very much, took tremendous pride in them and their accomplishments and especially loved being a grandfather "Pop" to his six grandchildren. He was an active member of North Side Baptist Church in Greenwood where he served as deacon and long-time Sunday School teacher. He was very strong in his faith, proclaiming Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and endeavored to proclaim the Gospel with everything he did. It is through faith in our loving Lord that we have hope in such a devastating loss. Visitation will be Monday evening, May 10, 2010, at Blyth Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00. The family will have a private graveside service at Oakbrook Memorial Park at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 11, 2010. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday at North Side Baptist Church with Dr. Jeffery Lethco officiating. Pallbearers will be George West, Jim Frederic, Michael Walden, Bill Garvin, Frank Setzler, Rev. Thomas Duncan, Larry Wash and Lynn Deanhardt. Honorary escort will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class of North Side Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202.

I did not have a better friend than Fred (we all called him F.R.) during high school and college. He was voted best looking in our senior year at Auburn High. We were fraternity brothers at Auburn University and he was in my wedding in 1968. A small group of us get together each year and we tell the same stories over and over. F.R.'s name always comes up. We all loved F.R.
