Fred Lewis Trobaugh, age 86, of Fort Smith, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born on February 5, 1939, in Addison, Texas, to William Henry Trobaugh Sr. and Ella Lee (Reynolds) Trobaugh.
On February 14, 1958, Fred married his wife, Laveta Melton Trobaugh. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on love, faith, and family.
Fred worked for many years as a dedicated truck driver with Rheem Manufacturing and later with Pradco Outdoor Brands. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.
Outside of his career, Fred found joy in the simple pleasures of spending peaceful days fishing, tending to his yard, and cheering for his beloved Longhorns. Above all, he cherished time with his children and grandchildren. Fred was a devoted member of Cavanaugh Freewill Baptist Church, where he faithfully served and found great strength in his faith and church family. He was an example of a Godly man who prioritized his family and faith in everything he did. He was welcoming to all, and he showed his compassion and love for life through supporting his kids and grandchildren in everything they did, no matter how big or small. His smile would grow with the number of grandchildren playing in his backyard. His kindness, steady spirit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his partner, Brenda Taylor; his four children, Danny Trobaugh and wife Deborah of Fort Smith, AR; Brenda Munn and husband Rocky of Gallatin, TN; Glenda Justice of Fort Smith; and Lisa Edgmon and husband Thomas of Fort Smith. He is also survived by his 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Reba Moody, of Texas.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Laveta Trobaugh; his parents, William Henry and Ella Lee (Reynolds) Trobaugh; his two children, Leon Trobaugh and Cynthia Seiter; two sisters; and two brothers.
A visitation will be held on October 29, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 30, 2025, at Cavanaugh Freewill Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Oak Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Rev Will Harmon; pallbearers at the church will be Joey Butler, Russell Garner, Bob Stinchcomb, Jason Nichols, Bill Wilson, and David Seiter. Pallbearers at the graveside will be grandchildren: Michael Justice, Trey Munn, Justin Trobaugh, Jeremy Trobaugh, Logan Seiter, Hayden Seiter, Mason Edgmon, and Jacob Edgmon. Services under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
