Lynne Trobaugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary Chapel - Phoenix on Jan. 22, 2026.
Lynne Stewart Trobaugh passed away at home on January 8th, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. Lynne courageously battled a rare form of cancer for the last 2 ½ years.

Born October 14, 1956, in Los Angeles CA. Lynne attended Palos Verdes High School and went on to attend ASU where she met her husband Jim (Troby) Trobaugh to whom she was married for 46 adventurous years. Together they raised two beautiful daughters and have two sweet granddaughters. They loved to travel all over the world and spend time with friends. One of Lynne's favorite places was St. Thomas where she loved to enjoy a Mai Tai with her toes in the sand and sailing the Caribbean. An avid skier, she also loved Park City, where Lynne was known to fearlessly and gracefully take on the Black Diamond runs.

Lynne was also a dedicated member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was chapter president from 1974-1976 and continued to be a devoted alumni member. Lynne taught Sunday School at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church and was active in PTA and school activities at Hopi Elementary and Ingleside Middle School all in support of her daughters. Lynne was a beloved member of Desert Foundation Auxiliary for several years. She generously opened her beautiful home for many meetings and events in her active years and continued to stay close to her DFA friends as an associate member. Professionally, she enjoyed a successful sales career in Radio and later as a passionate fashion stylist for the Cabi clothing line for 15 +years where she made many lasting friendships and achieved many distinguished accolades in the process. Lynne was also a new member of the Valley Field Riding and Polo Club.

Lynne was deeply loved by everyone who knew her and had a rare gift for making people feel instantly comfortable- like lifelong friends, even if they had just met her. She was smart, kind, funny, with the best sense of style- a true fashionista. She loved to laugh and have fun, but most of all, she cherished her family. Her family meant everything to her. Known for her legendary air guitar, Lynne would happily break it out at any party, especially if her favorite, the Rolling Stones came on.

Lynne is survived by her husband Jim, her daughters, Sarah Nurney (Wesley Nurney), Lauren Ray (Max Ray) and her grandchildren Charlotte Lynne and Ava Stewart Nurney. She is also survived by her siblings Karen Stewart Venezia (Nick Venezia) and Thomas Stewart, step-mother Elizabeth (Liz) Stewart, her half-sisters Carrie Reed (Dan Reed) and Melissa Benner and sister in-law Marcia Ann Trobaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents Donna Rockey Stewart and Thomas Roman Stewart.

The family plans to hold a private memorial service. A Celebration of Life will be held at Arizona Country Club on Saturday March 7th from 2-4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made in Lynne's memory to Hospice of the Valley, HOV.org. or Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, [email protected].

I had the pleasure of meeting Lynne and her husband, Jim, through mutual friends. From the moment I met her, I found her to be warm, caring, and engaging. She will be missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of many. Peace be with the family.
