Richard Parzych Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary Chapel - Phoenix on Feb. 20, 2026.
Richard Bruce Parzych, 79, husband of Kathleen Baldwin Parzych, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 6, 2026. Born on August 24, 1946 in Norwich, CT, he was the son of the late Stanley Parzych and Anna (Janusko) Parzych. Bruce was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy and St. Bonaventure University. As a Veteran, Bruce was drafted and proudly served our country for three years, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Army, where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, and his assignment at the Pentagon. During his career, Bruce worked for the Federal Government at the Department of Defense, Civilian, where he primarily worked in the Lodging and Hospitality Division supporting military members and their families around the world. Notably, Bruce served as the Project Manager for the latest development of the Shades of Green Resort at Walt Disney World before his retirement.

Bruce will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who cared deeply for everyone around him. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Kathleen, his son, John, daughter-in-law, Valerie, and his two granddaughters, Allison (Allie) and Ansley Parzych. Bruce is also survived by his three siblings and their spouses: William (Bill) and Cynthia (Cindy) Parzych, Robert (Bob) and Nancy Parzych, and Margaret (Peg) and Timothy Lewis, together with his nieces and nephews.

Bruce and his family lived in Northern Virginia for thirty-two years before moving to Windermere, FL, with Kathleen, and later to Phoenix, AZ to be closer to their adult son and his family. Taking after his late mother, Bruce had a talent for cooking and loved to spend time in the kitchen and outside at a grill preparing great meals for family and friends. His love for the global hospitality

industry always had him reviewing the latest hotel and restaurant trends and he was always looking forward to traveling to new places. Bruce was also a talented craftsman and could frequently be found at his workbench working on his next project or improving things around the house.

A Funeral Mass will be held on February 19, 2026 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Paradise Valley, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Daniel J. Parzych Memorial Fund.
