I am so very sorry for your loss. You don't know me, I am the widow of Fred l. Roach. Lee Roach was Fred's father. Caroline Payne told me this morning of your loss. My family's prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.

A great American from the "Greatest Generation." I registered him on the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. 0n 5/5/2018 as one of the Marines who flew the first flag on Mt. Suribachi Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. The second flag raised later in the day became the most published photograph of World War II.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. May the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 comfort your family.

Fred was a dear friend of mine. I will always be grateful for our time together on this earth. He was a Marine's Marine. SEMPER FIDELIS my friend!!! Please say hello to my Mother for me.
