Fred Woodley
Date of Death: December 26, 2024
Frederick William Woodley, son of Gary and Madonna (Hastedt) Woodley, was born on February 4, 1968, at Greene County Hospital in Jefferson, Iowa. He was proud to share with his friends that he was named after both of his grandfathers.
Throughout his school years and while growing up, Fred faced various challenges, but he always maintained a delightful and outgoing personality. He loved to engage with people, laugh, and tell jokes.
Fred enjoyed participating in 4-H for many years, where he earned numerous ribbons for several projects that he showcased at the Iowa State Fair. Fred also participated in the Special Olympics for 10 years, where he earned many ribbons in broad jump, softball throw, and running events. While growing up, he took dance lessons from one of his favorite friends, Sue Brown. He enjoyed performing at dance recitals, hospitals, nursing homes, Relay for Life, and the Bell Tower Festival. Additionally, Fred enjoyed traveling with his mother and camping at Spring Lake in Jefferson.
Fred was actively involved with his church, participating in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Confirmation. He cherished his church family and was happy to serve as a greeter and usher on occasion.
A significant achievement for Fred was graduating with the class he started with in preschool. He cherished his diploma and treasured the miniature version that he carried in his wallet. After graduation, Fred worked at Burger King in Perry for seven years and attended Genesis. He also volunteered at the activity center in Greene County Hospital for eight years.
Frederick William Woodley passed away on December 26, 2024, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa, at the age of 56 years. Fred was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, and baby sister. He is survived by his mother, Madonna Woodley of Ankeny, IA; brother, Gregory Woodley of Woodward, IA, nephew, Rick Woodley, niece, Kaitlyn (Guilherme) Freitas of Ankeny, IA; and three great nieces: Joselyn Dorrian, Jemma Dorrian, and Jianna Dorrian.
