Freda Baker, 77, of Clear Creek, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. Born on August 7, 1948, in Pineville, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Troy and Vernie Baker. Freda was a member of Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She found joy in the simple things—time spent with her sisters, laughter shared over bingo, and the comfort of family close by. Along with her parents, she is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Larry Baker, and her sisters, Marie Hicks and Maxine Farmer.
Freda leaves behind a family who adored her deeply: her sons, Larry (Joanne) Baker and Timothy (Tracy) Baker; her grandchildren, Matthew and Stephen Baker, and her princess, Savannah Baker. She is also survived by her sisters and lifelong best friends, Shelby Hopkins, Beatty Sulfridge, and Jerrie Valentine, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, and neighbors who loved her like family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, aides, and staff at Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation. Your kindness and care for both Freda and Larry brought the family great comfort, and they are forever thankful.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Reverend Clint Goodin and Tony Baker presiding. Music will be offered by Barry Barton and Shirley Partin. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Freda will be laid to rest at Peavley Cemetery in Clear Creek.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Baker Family.
