Freda Mae Porter-Dunn born at Kerksey Maternity Hospital in Mulberry, in 1948 to James L. Porter and Pearl A. (Rice) Porter. She grew up in South Fort Smith and attended South Fort Smith School Grade School along with Ramsey Jr. High School and Southside High School. She married the love of her life, David Dunn, who she met at Floyd's Drive-In in Fort Smith, and they were married for 48 years. They raised two boys and loved their grandchildren. She worked at Tate Elementary in Van Buren for 23 years as a cafeteria manager and retired to care for her parents in her home. She was peacefully Heaven sent.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Dunn; and two sisters, Jo Croff and Pansy Williamson.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Dunn and wife Deena of Van Buren, and James Dunn and wife Misty of Van Buren; three sisters, Ruth McFarland of Alma, Alice Miller of Greenwood, and Debbie Easter of Van Buren; two brothers, J.W. Porter of Denver, CO, and Jerry Porter of Van Buren; and five grandsons, Todd, Ty, Brett, Hogan, and Seth Dunn.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Todd Dunn, Ty Dunn, Brett Dunn, Hogan Dunn, Seth Dunn, and Kevin Porter.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
