Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Freda F. Funk, will never be named on the Who's Who list, but to those who truly knew her she was noteworthy and will forever leave a void. She was a fierce and loyal firecracker who lived her life to serve and do for others, never looking for fanfare or recognition. Freda only wanted to serve and better those around her
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her crowning glory. Her daughter, Brenda Swann and husband Rick Swann of Las Vegas, Nevada; her son, Russell D. Funk and wife Rene; her 6 grandchildren: Taylor Swann White, Whitney Swann Duncomb, Spencer Swann, Julianne Davis, Justine Leman, Josey Ray Funk; and her great grandchildren: Russell Duncomb, Beckett, Duncomb, Ollie Davis, Grant White, Dean White, and Brynn White will miss her daily.
Freda was born on December 6, 1944, in Hurricane, Utah. She was the oldest child of six children born to Ben R. Ford and La Donna Ford. Although she spent most of her life living in Las Vegas, Nevada, some of Freda's happiest memories were the summers she spent on the farm in Hurricane, Utah. Freda is survived by her siblings: Jim Ford of St. George, Utah; Frank Ford of Provo, Utah; Dave Ford of Pine Valley, Utah; Camille Ford of Montgomery, Texas; and Ted Ford of Provo, Utah.
Freda was never one to let grass grow under her feet. She learned the value of hard work at an early age and carried it with her throughout her life. She had a variety of careers that centered around her love of teaching and serving others. She loved crossword puzzles, sewing, scripture study, reading, and cooking for her family and friends. She never let anyone go hungry.
Freda made many life-long friends and was a well-loved member of her community and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints both in St. George, Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada. Seventy-nine years was simply not enough time with her. She will be sorely missed by her people but will live on in our hearts, bringing cheer and comfort as only she could.
If you would like to pay your respects, please join us at Freda's Graveside Services on Thursday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. George City Cemetery, 600 East Tabernacle Street, St. George, Utah. Following the services, a luncheon will be provided at 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Church Building located at 1285 N. Bluff Street, St. George, Utah.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I have known Freda for many years. I first got acquainted with Freda when I worked for her grandfather, Frank Sullivan in his peach orchard picking in the late summer harvests. She was there with her father (Ben Ford - who was foreman). Her twin brothers, Jim and Frank were also there. I have known her these many years and Diane and I have enjoyed her friendly ways. We have exchanged Christmas treats. Freda was a faithful worker in the St George Temple Baptistry. We will miss seeing and greeting and visiting with her. We send our love to all the family.
