Freda Parrish, a lifelong resident of Cass City, passed away peacefully at Northwood Meadows in Cass City on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 95. Freda was born September 20, 1928 in Cass City, the daughter of the late Jack & Viola (Barrons) Little. She was united in marriage with Dale Parrish on March 12, 1945 in Caro, and the couple celebrated seventy years together before his passing in 2015. Freda was employed with Walbro and Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City for many years before retiring to focus on her true calling, babysitting. She was a member of Novesta Church of Christ and spent her life committed to serving others. A child of the depression, Freda believed in finding a bargain, and spent countless hours at garage sales and dollar stores looking for items to share with family and friends.
Left to cherish Freda's memory are two children, Ron Parrish of Cass City, Cheryl Mattlin and her husband, Mike, of Caro; four grandchildren, Michelle Rutkoski and her husband, Al, Kim Dorland, Kevin Parrish, Jodi Fetting and her fiancé, Greg Rynearson; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Jerry & Phyllis Little; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by one son, Russell Parrish; her beloved grandson, Richard Parrish; daughter-in-law, Marlene Parrish; and two siblings and their spouses, Donald & Delilah Little, Nancy & Maynard Helwig.
Freda's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Northwood Meadows in Cass City for their loving care and compassion over the last fifteen months. In keeping with Freda's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the Novesta Township Cemetery with Pastor Brad Speirs officiating. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to Novesta Church of Christ.
