Freddie P. Messer

Freddie P. Messer, 92, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, December 10, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Chaplain Allison Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service.
Freddie was born September 27, 1931 in Cottonwood, AL to the late B.F. Messer and Ellen Armstrong Messer. He retired as a clerk from the Post Office, worked as a Police officer for the Columbus Police Department and was a Bailiff for the Sherriff's Department. He loved to fish, cook and spend time with his family. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Lynette Springman and grandson, Jason Messer.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Herring Messer of Columbus, GA, sons, Danny P. Messer (Margo) of Waterloo, SC, David L. Messer of Columbus, GA, Patrick "Pat" Moore of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Corey Messer, David Fuller, Rebecca L. Moore, Conner Moore, great-grandchildren, Metthias Fuller, Summer Jade Fuller, Lucas Messer and Finley Barnlund.
