Fred also know as Fredie B. Williams transitioned from his earthly life on Friday, April
19th, 2025. He was born on February 28th, 1947, to the late Freddie Lee
Williams and Willie Estelle (Sullivan) Williams in Waynesboro, Georgia.
After attending Burke County Schools, Fred enlisted into the Army, stationed
at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina. While in North Carolina, he met
and united in matrimony with his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Yvonne (McPhatter),
Williams who affectionately called him "William."
He completed vocational training at Augusta Area Technical School for
brick, tile and stone masonry in 1972. In 1973, he was honorably discharged
from the United States Army. His career continued as a machine shop
mechanic for 33 years at Lily Cup in Augusta, Georgia. After work, "Mr. Fred"
was most often found using his mechanic skills, under four wheels, repairing
someone's car or truck in the backyard; he also enjoyed going fishing,
hunting, traveling, attending special events such as graduations and family
gatherings.
At an early age, Fred was baptized at the McElmurray Tabernacle Baptist
Church. He was later ordained as a deacon under former pastor, Rev. S.T. Johnson. Deacon Williams served as Assistant Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the Tabernacle Senior Choir. Deacon Williams was fondly remembered by his "Homemade Lemonade" served after church activities. His other organization affiliation included being a member of Abraham Lodge #667.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings. He leaves his
devoted wife, Yvonne M. Williams, Hephzibah, GA; daughter, Cotina Williams
Wicks (the late John W Wicks,III), Flowood, MS; son, Ashley B. (Kimberlyn) Williams, Hephzibah, GA; granddaughter, Jasmyne Williams, Hephzibah, GA; grandson, Zion Williams,Hephzibah, GA; God-son, Ronald Williams, Waynesboro, GA; sisters-in-law, Barbara J. Williams (the late Elijah Williams), Barbara E. Williams (the late Larry Williams), Bonnie Williams (the late Jake Williams) all of Waynesboro,GA; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives, and friends
