Frederick Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Frederick Theodore Alexander, 92, of Yucca Valley, passed away on February 3, 2025.
Frederick was born on April 16, 1932, in downtown Los Angeles, CA.
In his youth, he was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He played viola with the Junior Philharmonic Orchestra of California, which fostered a lifelong love of classical music.
After high school, he drove a truck for the Van de Kamp Bakery while studying to become a chiropractor. He was drafted into the Army and served as an Army Specialist from 1955 to 1957. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Frederick practiced as a chiropractor for 40 years in Los Angeles.
Frederick spent much of his life actively involved in Masonic organizations. He was Master of Utopia Lodge #537 in 1972 and High Priest and then Grand High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons for the State of California from 1997 to 1998. He also volunteered his time with Masonic youth groups.
Frederick had a love of history and enjoyed storytelling. He spent many years portraying George Washington in civic events and schools.
Frederick and his wife homesteaded land and built a small cabin in Yucca Valley in 1959. They spent many a weekend planting trees and working on the cabin; and in 2006, they finally retired to their cabin in the desert.
In his later years, he enjoyed bragging about his grandchildren, spending time with his friends at weekly lunches, group outings, and attending theater and concerts.
Frederick is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Alexander; his son, Dennis Alexander; his grandson, Nicholas Ferris; his mother, Marguerite Ruth Slaten; and his father, Searles Alexander. He leaves behind his daughters, Melissa Alexander, Christina Ferris, son-in-law John Ferris, and grandchildren, Sean Ferris, and Jackson Ferris.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Joshua Tree Memorial Park in Joshua Tree California.
Flowers can be delivered to Joshua Tree Memorial Park the day of service. The preferred florist is: Cactus Flower Florist and Farms, Yucca Valley. Or in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Cure Starts Now Foundation for Pediatric Cancer research: 10280 Chester Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45215 on behalf of Frederick Alexander in honor of his grandson Nicholas Ferris.
