Obituary of Frederick Wm. Bauer
Bauer, Frederick W. "Fred"
Saginaw, Michigan
Our loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Traditions of Saginaw. He was 95 years old. Frederick William Bauer was born on April 25, 1929 in Richville, MI to the late Edward and Martha (Heinlein) Bauer. Fred graduated from Vassar High School, and then proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. When Fred returned home, he met, fell in love and married Barbara Lee Cherry on October 8, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Zilwaukee. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage together, creating wonderful memories and traveling throughout the world, until her death on March 2, 2024. Fred worked for Morley Brothers as a wholesale salesmen, then General Motors - Grey Iron Foundry, as an Engineering Clerk, retiring in 1987. In Fred's retirement years he kept very busy, selling memorial bricks for the Veteran's Memorial Plaza in Hoyt Park and as a member of the Korean War Veterans Post #251. He loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and donating blood. He was also known throughout the area for "Another Shed by Don and Fred", and participated with a documentary produced by Delta College about the Korean War. Fred's greatest joy was spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren participate in school/sports activities, volunteering at church, and rooting for the Detroit Tigers.
Fred is survived by his children: Fred (Ellen) Bauer, LouAnne (Don) Yurgens and Beth Bauer; grandchildren: Addie Bauer, Marta (Chris) Pethke, Russell (Leah) Bauer, Freddie Bauer, Natalie (Steven) Schaeff, Maureen (Christian) Bialek, Mikaela (Nathan) Green and Derrick Yurgens; great grandchildren: August and Benjamin Bauer, Franklin Schaeff, Hayes Bialek, James Pethke and Sheridan Green; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Fred Kern; sister-in-law, Delores Bauer; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
