Obituary of Frederick Carl Blosch, Jr
BLOSCH, FREDERICK CARL, JR., passed away on January 31, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He was born November 18, 1937, in Boynton Beach, Florida to parents, Rev. Frederick C. Blosch and wife, Macie. Fred was the youngest of six children and grew up in Ocala, graduating in 1955 from Ocala High School. He had a life-long passion for baseball and was tapped by the Cincinnati Reds prior to high school graduation to attend minor league training camp. His dream of professional baseball was cut short by an injury, and he returned to college, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Stetson University in 1963. His career as a Certified Public Accountant began in Miami and moved to Winter Park where he became a partner with an established firm. In his later years as a sole practitioner specializing in estate and trusts, Fred shared many tax seasons with friend and professional CPA, Jerome McCauley. Fred was a member of the FICPA and AICPA. He received the distinct honor of Paul Harris Fellow from the Winter Park Rotary Club. He loved music and sang for many years with the Messiah Choral Society, serving as its treasurer and on the Board of Directors. His love for his family was only surpassed by his love for the Lord. He was a charter member of First Baptist Maitland where he was ordained as a deacon, and a member of First Baptist Sweetwater from its beginning. Fred is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Louise, son Edwin (Sarah), daughter Karen Calhoun (Gary), and daughter Amy Burke (Jimmy), along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by grandson, James Burke IV, brother David, sisters Freida, Lucille, Virginia and Lila Marie. Celebration of Life service in the Hiers Baxley Funeral Home Chapel, 910 E. Silver Springs Boulevard, Ocala, Florida on Monday, February 5, 2024, 2:00pm. Visitation one hour prior.
