Frederick Ducay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. on Oct. 1, 2025.
Frederick "Fred" Paul Ducay 87 of Hubbard OH passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic, with his wife and close friends by his side until the end.
He was born on April 24, 1937, in Youngstown, OH to Joseph and Alice (Slagle) Ducay. He resided in Poland Ohio for many years. He graduated from High School and attended Y.S.U. prior to entering the U.S. Army where he served state side for three years. Upon discharge he went to work for Youngstown Sheet & Tube. He then took up an apprenticeship job in the fire protection industry, which began his career as a member of the Sprinkler Fitters United Association. He worked for Automatic Sprinkler Company in Pittsburgh PA before transferring to Fox Fire Protection in Strongsville OH. He was in the trade for 50 years before retiring in 2001, as supervisor and job consultant.
Fred was active in all sports, snow skiing, water skiing, and he had a passion for golf all his life until he passed. He was a sports fan of the Cleveland Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers, and also loved to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes. He and his wife loved vacationing with friends often at Disney World in Orlando Florida.
Fred loved and took pride in taking care of the landscaping around their home and attending to his pond and waterfall.
He was an animal lover and had a desire to always get a rescue dog from the shelter. He also enjoyed having many pet birds including cockatiels at home and loved all birds. He never missed feeding and caring for the outside birds all year long.
He was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses of Sharon, PA. He dedicated his life to Jehovah God in 1976. His faith was the most important part of his life. He had solid faith in the Bible's promise of a resurrection. For decades he willingly stepped in as a father figure and supporting friend. His loyalty to his wife and God were the cornerstone of his life.
He leaves behind his loving wife Carol, whom he married in 1972. He is survived by two brothers Gerald (Annie) Ducay of Youngstown, OH and Richard Ducay of Poland, OH and nieces and nephews.
His loving companions Muffin, Teko, Daphne, and Carly, all proceeded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his newest companion Darcy Lynn.
Fred was proceeded in death by his parents and sister Marlene Zunic.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to any local animal shelter or the humane society of choice.
