Frederick Duvelius Obituary

Frederick Steven Duvelius, known fondly as Fred, was born on May 30, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed away peacefully at his home in West Chester, Ohio, on August 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones who cherished him deeply.

Fred dedicated over 30 years of his life to working as a custodian within the Lakota School District. Throughout his career, he embraced various roles in several schools, yet it was the old Union Elementary School that captured much of his time, culminating in his retirement from Plains Junior School. Even after retirement, his devotion to service continued as he took on a role as a shuttle driver at Kings Ford.

Above all, Fred was a remarkable leader and teacher. He cultivated invaluable memories with his family, imparting life skills and passions that created lasting bonds. He took great joy in teaching his children and grandchildren the art of fishing, a pastime he loved dearly. Additionally, he extended his generosity to the neighborhood children, sharing his knowledge on car maintenance and repairs.

Fred was united in marriage to Peggy L. (nee Backs) Duvelius on May 11, 1985, at St. John the Evangelist Church in West Chester, Ohio. Together, they built a loving family, with their children Jason Bollmer, Tommy (Tempeste) Duvelius, and Mike (Katie) Duvelius. Fred's heart swelled with pride for his grandchildren: Rowan, Drake, Sophia, Jaxon, Noah, Abbey, Evan, Taylor, and Wyatt, who he considered his most precious gifts.

In addition to his family, Fred took great pride in mentoring young minds as a Boy Scout Leader, assisting at least ten young men in achieving their Eagle Scout status. His adventurous spirit led him to travel to all 50 states, a testament to his love of exploration and learning.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; children Jason Bollmer, Tom (Tempeste) Duvelius, and Mike (Katie) Duvelius; grandchildren Rowan, Drake, Sophia, Jaxon, Noah, Abbey, Evan, Taylor, and Wyatt; and his siblings, Donald Duvelius, Regina (Donald) Pfaefflin, Jerome (Glenna) Duvelius, Dorothy (Terry) Langdon, Patricia (Greg) Miller, Annette (Tom) Oakes, Mary (Guy) Means, and Jill Drake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Joseph and Norrine (nee Hoerst) Duvelius; sister-in-law, Jackie Duvelius; and brother-in-law, Tim Drake.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. A second visitation will be held Thursay, September 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati Dayton Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations may be directed to American Cancer Society.

Fred will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and community, his gentle spirit, and his legacy as a beloved teacher and leader. His impact will be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
