Frederick Richard Lausen, fondly known as "Fritz" age 86 of Houston Texas passed away on January 6th, 2025.
Born in 1938 in Tulsa Oklahoma. Fritz was a loving husband to Ada for over 64 years and a devoted father to daughter Michell, and son Fred Lausen Jr.
Fritz and Ada enjoyed their lives together living all over the world including Japan, California, Texas, Oklahoma as well as Colorado, Canada and Louisiana.
Fritz graduated from North Texas State University in 1961 with a BS in Business Administration. Upon graduation he entered the US Navy where he served as a line officer in the far east and US West Coast. Fritz was part of the testing for the Titan II missile program. In 1965 he joined Continental Oil Co. serving as a land man in Corpus Christi, Oklahoma City and Denver. While in Canada, Mr. Lausen joined Davis Oil Co. in 1969 as a division land man in the New Orleans, La office and was promoted to exploration manager in 1977. He was later appointed VP of Davis Exploration and Production. In 1995 he moved the Davis offices to Houston TX.
Fritz was most happy playing golf, fishing, traveling and hunting. He also enjoyed photography in which there were days that you would only see him with his Nikon camera hanging around his neck.
Fritz and Ada traveled the world together and took big interest in sailing. They enjoyed many years on their sailboat while living in New Orleans.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Lausen served on the board as an Independent Director of Rowan Companies from 1999 to 2012.
Mr. Lausen is survived by his wife Ada, their daughter Michell Turkington, her husband Scott, their daughter Rachel Shashoua, her husband Michael and their son Ben. Their son Frederick R. Lausen Jr, his wife Peppi, their daughter Landi Lutz, husband Kyle, children, Gentry and Lucy. Daughter Leigh Shaw, husband Collin, children Brayden and Knox and Son Rivers Lausen. Mr Lausens sister, Suzanne "Suzy" Blankenship with her husband Jim of Dallas Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Rachel Lausen of Gainesville Texas.
Funeral services will be held in a private family chapel service in Gainesville Texas on January 13th, 2025.
