Frederick Lust Obituary
Fred was born in Oneida on February 5, 1932, the son of Frederick Joseph and Florence (Parmalee) Lust. While in Oneida he lived on a farm. As a young boy, Fred moved to Sylvan Beach, and he felt like Sylvan Beach was his home until he married.
On June 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to Thelma Mary Stahlberger, and together they raised ten children.
Fred honorably served his country as a U.S. Navy combat veteran during the Korean War. Following his military service, he was employed as an Electronics Technician at Rome Air Development Center/Rome Labs at Griffiss Air Force Base, where he later retired.
Fred was an avid stock-car racer and a licensed private pilot. He was also a three-time American Contract Bridge League Life Master and a certified director.
Fred loved to go hunting and fishing. He was a skilled carpenter as well. Fred had an entrepreneurial spirit, and he owned many different businesses throughout his life.
Fred was a kind, caring and peaceful person who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Thelma Lust; and their children, Fred Lust Jr., Francis (Tammy) Lust, David (Yun) Lust, Laure (Christopher) Thorpe, Timothy Lust, Kathleen (Michael) Lust-Bonanza , Karen Troendle, Linda (Steve) Losquadro, and Joseph (Allison) Lust. Also surviving are his nieces Donna Dow, Tracy Lewis, and Kathy Lee Sanders. He also leaves behind three generations of loved ones - 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Patricia O'Connell, and his son, Wayne Anthony Lust.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome, NY 13440. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 5652 E. Main Street, Verona, NY 13478. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rome
