Frederick McClendon, a beacon of light and warmth, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Marietta, Georgia, at the age of 82. Born on November 2, 1943, in Cartersville, Georgia, Frederick carried the spirit of his hometown throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

Frederick dedicated 50 years to Lockheed Martin, where he earned multiple accolades, highlighting his exceptional work ethic, integrity, and profound knowledge in his trade. His commitment to excellence shone brightly during his long tenure, and he retired on July 31, 2018. Beyond his career at Lockheed Martin, he also ran his own commercial cleaning business for an impressive 35 years, balancing it skillfully alongside his full-time job.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Frederick always prioritized his family above all else. He adored his beloved wife, Marty, whose cooking brought him immense joy. Together, their love was a testament to the power of companionship and support, even in life's most challenging moments. Frederick was truly a positive ray of light, inspiring others with his kindness and gentle spirit.

Alongside his family, Frederick found great solace in his faith. He embraced the teachings of the Bible and cherished the time spent at church, actively engaging with his Christian friends and family. His warm nature and unwavering faith created a nurturing environment for those he loved.

Frederick delighted in the beauty of the mountains, eagerly anticipated the joy of Christmas, and had a fondness for eating raisin cream pies, which will be lovingly recalled by his family. As he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, he created lasting memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Marty McClendon; his son, Bryan McClendon, and Sheila; step-daughters, Schelli Hutchinson, and Scott; and Chrissy Holden, and Phil. He also leaves behind his brother, Michael McClendon, and Vanessa; brother, Danny Ray McClendon; sister, Rochelle Ellis, and Jeffrey; sister, Bonnette McClendon; brother, Jesse E. McClendon; along with five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Frederick was preceded in death by his father, General McClendon; mother, Margie McClendon; brother, Paul McClendon; and sisters, Paulette Bannister and Geneva Cooper. They welcomed him into their eternal embrace, where he shall know peace.

Services for Frederick will be held on January 9, 2026, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, culminating with a graveside service at Kennesaw Memorial Park starting at 3:15 PM.
