Frederick J. Murphy

Fred Murphy, 60, passed away surrounded by those who loved him most. Born on December 15, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario, Fred lived a life defined by an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others and by the depth of his devotion to his family.

Fred was the son of Frederick and Gladys Murphy and grew up in Windsor alongside his siblings, forming the values that would guide his life. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sherry and Susan, and is survived by his siblings Kimberly, Candy, Jason, and Jody.

Above all else, Fred was a devoted father and husband. His life was especially shaped by his profound dedication to his wife, Theresa, his son, Jacob, and his beloved dogs, Simba and Chevy, with whom he loved sharing food and daily company. He was present in ways that mattered, placing his family's needs before his own, loyal and deeply giving in spirit.

Fred's love of people extended far beyond his home. He was deeply and actively involved in Berkley Schools, where his commitment to students and families left a lasting imprint on the community. He also worked at a local movie theater, a role that reflected his lifelong love of film and the joy he found in sharing that passion with others.

Outside of work and service, Fred found joy in simple pleasures. He loved movies, had a lifelong affection for Star Wars, never turned down a Pepsi, and would go into any body of water regardless of the circumstances.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Fred's honor in an open-house format on January 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 1606 Genesee Avenue, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance of a man whose life was defined by service, loyalty, and love.
