Frederick G. Oldfield Jr.

Frederick G. Oldfield, Jr, age 81, lifelong resident of Milford, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 14th after a brief illness. He was the loving, devoted husband of Cynthia J. Oldfield (Otenti) for 50 years.
Frederick was born on June 14, 1940, in Milford to the late Frederick G. and Deletta I. (Marino) Oldfield.
He was a hardworking, self-motivated man, whom, having grown up with very little, worked extremely hard to have a better life for his parents, himself and his own family. He apprenticed at Draper Corporation while attending school at Northeastern University to become a mechanical engineer. He ultimately retired from Digital Corporation.
Frederick enjoyed attending both Boston Celtics and Red Sox games, boating, time spent at Thompson Speedway and coaching basketball and baseball for his boys. In his youth, he played semi-pro basketball.
In addition to his wife, Frederick is survived by his loving sons: Frederick G. Oldfield, III of Hopedale, Brent A. Oldfield and his wife Petrina of Milford and Garrett Oldfield and his wife Caitlin of Upton; his grandchildren: Celina, Piper, Venecia, Austin, Mason and Logan and many friends.
Calling hours for Frederick will be held on Friday, January 21st from 4-7 P.M. at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 22nd at 11AM followed by interment in Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford.
