Frederick Proulx Obituary

Frederick David Proulx, Sr., 98, of Attleboro passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Ada (Gardner) Proulx, the love of his life whom he was married to for 68 years until her death in 2016.

Born August 26, 1926 in the Dodgeville section of Attleboro he was the son of the late Frederick and Nellie (LaBonte) Proulx.

Frederick was a lifelong resident of Attleboro and a graduate of Attleboro High School Class of 1945.

He was employed by the Larson Tool & Stamping Co., retiring after 38 years. In his retirement years he worked as an Attleboro school crossing guard and officially retired again at the age of 92.

Frederick was happiest when he was working outdoors doing yard work and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He loved the heat of his wood burning stove and could be found year round sawing, splitting and packing cords of wood. He also enjoyed square dancing with his wife and made many friends while dancing through the years.

His family will remember him as a hard working man, always finding a way to provide and care for them and for his odd and sometimes annoying sense of humor.

Following the birth of his daughter Ann Marie, who was born with Down Syndrome, he became a founding member and first president of AAARC, now The Arc of Bristol County.

He is survived by his children; Carol Johnson(Peter), Priscilla Griffin(Wayne), Joanne Reynolds, Patricia Baenziger(Kenneth), Frederick Proulx, Jr.,(Kimberly), Stephen Proulx(Jo-Ann) and Paul Proulx(Anne); 22 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren with two babies expected soon. He was the father of the late Ann Marie Proulx, the brother of the late Florence Proulx and Donald L. Proulx.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, July 18, 2025 in the St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, MA. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or online at www.HopeHealthCo.org/InMemory

The family thanks Frederick's special friend Karen, who brought him much joy these past two years and his care team from Hope Health for the care and support given and for allowing Frederick to live his best life with humor and dignity.
