Frederick Daniel Schlitzer. He was 75. Born and raised in Rochester, graduating from Sacred Heart Cathedral School and John Marshall High School, Fred (Dan to family) was a US Army veteran. After Officer Candidate School, served in Germany as a Russian translator; he was fluent in both German and Russian. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Rochester, graduating with a degree in Geological Sciences, using it for almost two decades in oil & gas exploration in Texas and adjoining states before beginning a second career at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in St Louis, MO. As a consequence of making many close friends, he called New Braunfels and Webster Groves his home, apportioning his time in each with the weather.

Our brother is survived by siblings Virginia DiBacco, Susan McNamara (VanDerwarker), John Schlitzer, Elizabeth Horrocks and Christina Seibert, as well as ten nieces and nephews.

Fred was a very dear friend of mine for several years while I lived on the same street as he did, Oak in Webster. We would meet up at least once a day, sharing time with our dogs. I spent numerous hours helping him with Spot during the last years of her life, she was always my favorite!!
I returned to Norway in 1998 and we wrote emails and shared photos.
Last time I saw Fred was when I visited him in his house at Oak in September 2016, and we last spoke on the phone October 10 2021.
I am so sorry to learn about his passing, he was still so young. He was a very very dear friend whom I have shared many lovely conversations and hamburgers and a beer with dogs running around his fenced yard.
He was my confidant during difficult periods in my life.
If anyone in his family could connect with me then I would be very grateful.
My warmest and heartfelt condolences to his siblings.
Sincerely and with love, Toril
