Frederick Earl Schmidt

Frederick E. "Fred" Schmidt, age 81, passed away at Methodist Hospital September 5, 2025.

He was born July 11, 1944, to the late Adolph and Fern (Rodenburg) Schmidt in Council Bluffs, IA. Fred graduated from Tri-Center High School with the class of 1962. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Honey Creek. He was a lifelong farmer and was the owner/operator of a commercial street sweeping company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Schmidt and Kenneth Henry Schmidt; infant son, Dennis Jay Schmidt.

Frederick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Schmidt; sons, Freddie Schmidt (Ellen), Kevin Dale Schmidt (Linda Wuestewald); brother, Gary Schmidt (Cherry); grandchildren, Andrew Schmidt (Morgan), Zachary Schmidt (Taylor), Payton Schmidt, and Paige Schmidt; great grandchildren, Blake, Benjamin, Logan, and Charlie; nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 09, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church near Honey Creek on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Interment will be in the Grange Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
