Frederick Schultz

Jan 25, 2022 Long time Alaskan and MatSu Valley resident Fred Schultz, 70, passed peacefully in his easy chair at his home on Knik Goose Bay road 1-25-2022.

Fred was born 11-10-1952 in Port Townsend, WA and spent his youth in Sequim, WA.

He spoke of the many adventures he experienced throughout his life in the west United States before moving to Alaska.

Fred was an accomplished electrician, very sharp, and employed through the IBEW to contractors in south-central Alaska and all over the many remote spots of Alaska. He was a joy to work with; smart, energetic, dedicated, with a sense of humor, and talented at any electrical task at hand.

For many years he enjoyed riding snowmachines and ATVs throughout the hundreds of miles of trails around Point MacKensie and the Big Lake area.

A very happy occasion was when he, after 25 years, finally drew a permit for the Delta Junction Bison hunt. He was successful in harvesting a 1200 pound Bison.

In retirement he enjoyed the company of his (2) Schnauzer dogs, Paxton & Bowie and had a mini-sheriff cowboy hat for one of them.

All who knew Fred knew that he appeared to be a crusty ol' coot but had a heart of gold and had your back in a minute as a friend.

He is survived by his daughter Lee Liebmann and grandson Cameron in Snowmass, Colorado.
