Margaret Francis Schultz

Margaret Francis Schultz (nee Bachman), 66, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully with family holding her hands at 3:01 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Franciscan Health of Michigan City.

Margaret, a warm soul who was down to earth in so many ways, was born on November 6, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Henry and Kathryn Bachman. Raised in Chicago as the youngest of five siblings, she was a proud alumna of Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Margaret relocated to Indiana as an adult, where she raised three sons and cherished her time with family above all else. Fully embracing being a "boy mom", Margaret took her sons on camping trips, fishing excursions, and spent many happy hours driving them to baseball practices and games in the family station wagon. As a grandmother, she was grateful that her four grandchildren lived locally and enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with them. She loved dogs (especially black Labradors), the beach, scuba diving, cooking, music, crossword puzzles, gardens and shopping. Her family will miss her warm and caring nature, her sense of humor, and her love.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Carl, Todd, and Bobby Schultz; four grandchildren, Lillian, Roland, Parker and Charlotte; two brothers, Richard Bachman and Bob Bachman; and one sister, Kay Carrow.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Bachman (nee Donovan); her father, Henry Bachman; and a brother, John Bachman.

Cremation will take place at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, (219)362-3100, is caring for the arrangements.
