Frederick W. Stingle

Frederick W. Stingle Jr." Fred" 95 of Simsbury, CT passed away peacefully Saturday, December 21st 2024. Fred was a true gentleman from "The Greatest Generation". He was born February 10, 1929 in New Britain, CT, son of the late Frederick W. and Dorothy (MacArthur) Stingle. Fred attended Newington High School, graduating in 1946. After high school, Fred entered the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He served our country during WWII while stationed in Germany and was discharged September 7th 1948. He continued his service in the Army National Guard for another 19 years.
Upon his return, Fred attended UCONN and went to work at Holo-Krome where he met the love of his life, his wife and best friend of 68 years, Shirley Simons. They married, made their home in Simsbury and also had a summer home in Old Saybrook. After marriage, Fred began a new career with Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, retiring after 35 years of devoted service. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Hartford June 8th 1956. Fred was also a member of the Free Masons for over 50 years.
Along with his parents, Fred was predeceased by a brother Robert M. Stingle; sisters-in-law Eleanor Occhi, Joan Simons, Kathleen Stingle and his beloved Siberian Husky Mitze. He leaves behind his nieces and nephew, Anne Stingle, Mary Cohen, Shirley Bonazelli, Robert Stingle, and Laura Deschene.
Fred was the best husband and friend you could have. Shirley would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to Avon Dialysis and UConn Health for all their kind and compassionate care of Fred.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00am to 11:00am Friday, December 27th 2024 at Rose Hill funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will follow. The burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
