Mr. Frederick Ray Sutton (Fred Sutton), age 79, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Fred was born on December 3, 1946, to Herman Hardy Sutton and Helen Louise Bramlet Sutton, and grew up in Eldorado, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a minor in music. He also completed a master’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He worked for many years in the Washington, DC area, Huntsville, Alabama, and Memphis, Tennessee, in the field of computer science, specifically in satellite communications. In 1992, along with two business colleagues, Fred started ProTech Systems Group, Inc., a computer consulting and contract placement firm in Memphis. He served as co-owner and Chief Information Officer until his retirement.

Fred enjoyed listening to jazz music, playing the drums, guitar, and piano, and shooting pool, all of which enriched his life throughout the years. He also played tennis, was a licensed amateur radio operator (Ham Radio call sign: KJ2K), and traveled across the United States with his family, enjoying historic sites and places. He loved his wife, kids, and grandkids more than anything, and he centered his life around all their activities. Additionally, Fred adored his pet dachshunds (Pepper, Minnie, and Copper), dabbled in amateur photography, enjoyed watching college football and the Indianapolis 500 each year, all while eating his favorite food: ice cream!!!

Fred was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church in Germantown, Tennessee, for many years. He was strong in his faith, always providing the support others needed and grounding himself in God’s Word. During this time, he taught Sunday School and led Disciple Studies at church, and he truly cherished the many beautiful friendships he made along the way.

Survivors include Fred’s wife, Judy Flanagan Sutton of Leesburg, FL; his daughter Kari Joy Sutton and her sons Lucas Sebastian Saxton and Leo Santiago Saxton of Germantown, TN; his son Jeffrey Lance Sutton and wife Kelly and their sons Porter Grayson Sutton and

Palmer Gray Sutton of Charlotte, NC; his brother David Sutton and wife Kay of Maine and his sister-in-law Seattle Sutton of Marseilles, IL and their families.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Hardy Sutton and Helen Louise Bramlet Sutton, his brother Dr. Herman Kelly Sutton, and many other precious Sutton family members.
