Frederick Wawrzonek Obituary
Mr. Wawrzonek was proprietor of Fred's Flower Shop with his late wife Violet in Amsterdam for over 70 years.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and a former member of the Church of St. John the Baptist. He was also a member of the Forever Friends, Polish National Alliance, Knights of Columbus, St. Michael's Society and the Amsterdam Florist Association for many years. He was also a Korean War veteran.
He was married to the late Valeria (Violet) Wawrzonek on September 10, 1955.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen A. Ratajczak and one son, Wayne M. Wawrzonek, both of Amsterdam, New York; three grandsons Justin Wawrzonek (Karen) of Altamont, New York, Jonathan Wawrzonek and Brandon Ratajczak (Emily) both of Amsterdam, New York; one sister-in-law Jeanette (Chester) Sokalski of Amsterdam, New York and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his 12 siblings, he was predeceased by his wife, Violet Wawrzonek in 2003 and a son Fred Wawrzonek in 1989. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law Paul Ratajczak in 2016. The family would like to thank Fred's caregivers: Linda, Lisa and Tina.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon Thursday, May 25, 2023 at St. Stanislaus Church, Cornell Street, Amsterdam with Rev. O. Robert De Martinis, E.V., Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the funeral home.
Flowers are acceptable, however, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
