Frederick "Rick" Young Jr

Frederick C. Young Jr., age 74, of Moorestown, New Jersey, passed away on April 5, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Sumiko and proud father of Mary Yasuko, Arthur Edward, and Melissa Ann. He was a cherished grandfather to Daniel, Edward, Ricki,Zachary, Charlotte,Ryan, Margaret, Riley, Adrianna, Paul and Josephine. Great Grandfather of Mason, Roman, Madilyn, Lincoln, and Kayden. Frederick was a devoted brother to James William, Terri Lynn and Debbie Ann. He was predeceased by siblings Margaret Ann, Arthur Thomas and John Paul.
Affectionately known as Rick to many who knew him, he graduated from Moorestown High School and dedicated over four decades of service as a lineman for PSE&G from 1970 until his retirement in 2017. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with Moorestown Hose Company No.# 1 achieving the rank of Captain. He is a member of the Moorestown Fireman's Relief Assoc. and Life Member of the New Jersey State Fireman's Relief Assoc. He served with the Moorestown Emergency Squad as an EMT and 1St Lt. for many years.
Rick found great joy in fishing with his children and grandchildren and loved camping and participating in living history reenactments with his family. A talented bagpiper and passionate traveler, he also enjoyed watching classic horror movies with loved ones.
A Master Mason and Past Master of Medford Lodge # 178 F.& AM. Rick was a proud member of the Shriners Hospital and the Masonic Kilties. He also brought joy to many by portraying Santa Claus for family gatherings and charitable events.
He was a volunteer for the Medford Historical Society operating the blacksmith shop at Kirby's Mill. He enjoyed taking his grandsons there and having them swing the hammer for him.
A visitation will be held at April 16th form 6 – 8 pm at The Lewis Funeral Home, 78 East Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057. A Masonic service will take place at 7:30 pm
A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Thursday April 17th at the funeral home.
