Frederick Zitzmann Obituary
Fred was the beloved husband of the late Kathryn Sullivan Zitzmann and the loving father of Jennifer Z. Nuccio (Jason), Scott E. Zitzmann (Sue), Brian J. Zitzmann (Christine), and Jeffrey E. Zitzmann (Amy). He was the proud grandfather of Megan, Jonathan, Owen, Logan, Raine, Emilie, Liam, Alison, Ainsley, Andrew, and Madeline.
He is survived by his sister, Cynthia Zitzmann Garrett, and was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Zitzmann Ford.
Fred ran a small family business and his hobbies included recreational shooting and collecting firearms. He loved being involved in his children's and grandchildren's activities over the years, proudly supporting them through school and sports boosters. He especially enjoyed cooking for family and friends, always bringing people together around good food and laughter. Known for his sharp wit and dry humor, Fred had a gift for making everyone smile with his quick comebacks and constant jokes.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time, with a Rosary at 10:45 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, Louisiana.

When I was in school I had 2 friends, Sidney and Fred. I could call Sidney after I got in trouble but Fred would be the one sitting next to me on the bench saying "how on earth did we end up here!" A best friend is that person you look forward to seeing, even though no matter how long it has been since you saw them last they will still be the same person you knew.
