Fredric (Fred) Charles Atton age 81, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away April 28, 2024 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was born on July 15, 1942 in Lindsay, California to George and Dorothy (Gray) Atton.
Fred married his current wife Charisse (Mattson) Atton on June 19, 1993 in Itasca State Park, Minnesota. He graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1960 and subsequently graduated from Cabrillo College in 1966 with an associate in arts degree in Social Science and from San Jose State University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Fred primarily worked as a Technical Recruiter and retired as a Tax Preparer from H&R Block at the age of 70. Fred enlisted in the U. S. Navy on July 12, 1960 and attained the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. He served until being honorably discharged on June 11, 1963. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Portugal. Fred loved the great outdoors and spent most of his life boating, camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and hunting.
Survived by loving wife of 30 years, Charisse Atton; mother, Dorothy Atton; son, Frank Atton; brother, Bob (Sara) Atton; sisters, Georgia (Steve) Schwartz; Gina (Larry) Atton-Thomas; Tamara Atton; Kim Atton Ganz; many other relatives and dear friends. Fred is also survived by his former wife, Penelope Slade, who is the mother of his children. Fred will be deeply missed.
Preceded in death by one parent, George K. Atton; and one son, Freddy S. Atton.
Visitation Saturday June 1, 2024 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home 608 Park Avenue S Park Rapids, Minnesota 56470 from 1:00 PM until the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM with Military Honors to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
