Obituary of Fredric Madory Doeing
LOUDONVILLE –
Mr. Fredric Madory Doeing, 83, of Loudonville, formerly of Buffalo, passed away peacefully at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Colonie, NY on September 14, 2025.
He was born on January 24, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, the eldest child of the late Richard and Betty (Madory) Doeing.
Fredric received his Bachelor's Degree from SUNY and his Master's of Science Degree from Cornell in 1972. The designation of Professional Engineer was awarded to him in 1975.
Mr. Doeing was a Professor at a Community College in Buffalo, a Professor at Union College, employed by Ryan Biggs Engineering. He was also self-employed with a Private Consulting Firm in Albany NY and ended his career retiring as Albany County Engineer.
He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard after his three year service. His professional organizations and affiliations included: The National Society of PE, he received an Outstanding Service Award. Fred was also a longtime member and dedicated volunteer of the Hudson-Berkshire Division of the National Model Railroad Association.
He was quiet, gentle and soft spoken with a dry and subtle sense of humor. Fredric liked sharing his travel stories to Russia, Argentina, Mexico, a ski trip to Innsbruck Austria and especially the family trips to his grandparents farm in Pennsylvania. In his youth he was an avid Boy Scout, he possessed a keen interest in cars (both driving and restoring them). He was also scuba certified, and enjoyed boating and waterskiing. Fredric's entrepreneurial skill began with a paper route in Buffalo NY.; carefully folding the papers, mapping out the most efficient route, managing meticulous financial records and was armed with a coin changer attached to his belt. In his later years he enjoyed Ballroom Dancing where he met his wife.
Fred was cherished and will be missed dearly by his devoted wife, Christine Anne Thornton, whom he married on October 20, 2018 in the Loudonville Community Church. He was the dear brother of Kathryn (Doeing) Newell ( brother in law to James), and L. Ted Doeing.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
Special thanks to the Shaker Place care and administrative staff, our church family at Starpoint Church in Clifton Park, and our friends at LCC.
