Fredric Roth Lehle

1949 - 2024

Fredric (Fred) Roth Lehle, 75, of Round Rock, TX passed away on October 9th, 2024.

Fred Lehle was born June 16th, 1949, in Pasadena, TX the son of Walter William Lehle and Doris Roth Lehle. Fred married his wife, Lynn Lehle, in 1975 in Fayetteville, AR.

Fred always had a passion for plant sciences. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's from the University of Arkansas and his Doctoral degree in Plant Physiology from Iowa State University.

Fred served the plant research community for 32 years through his small business Lehle Seeds, a seed stock center primarily focusing on the sale of multiple strains of the plant model organism, Arabidopsis thaliana. As a result, Lehle Seeds is referenced as a vendor in just below 3,000 research publications regarding basic sciences focused on genetics, early plant development, and responses to the environment.

Fred loved being outdoors and was very active, often taking long walks through his neighborhood in the evening with his wife. Fred loved his family, friends, and colleagues and will be missed dearly.

Fred is survived by his daughter Julia Lehle, and wife Gabriela; son Jake Lehle, and wife Amelia; brother Walter Lehle Jr., and spouse Genny Bantle; brother-in-law Jon Benedict, and wife Normi; sisters-in-law Ann Lawrence, Carol Kelley and husband Don.

A celebration of his life will be held on October 26th at Beck Funeral Homes from 10-11:00 a.m. 15709 Ranch Rd 620, Austin, TX 78717.
