Freeman was a vibrant soul with magnetic energy that he carried with him everywhere. He had game in his pocket, and he was always ready for whatever situation was at hand. His love for music, his taste and style in clothing, and his general ability to be the life of the party was unmatched. He touched so many people in so many different ways. His heart and passion for his family and friends was overwhelming. For me it was instant adornment. I was smitten from the first glimpse at Skyline football field when I saw him in the bleachers fall of 1993. I probably started out as a game for him. Lol. He was such a player. We went on to have a 5-year romance. Those were some of the best times of our lives. I am so grateful for the friendship and just to know someone who touched my heart and changed my life like no one had ever before. He was everything to me back then. He will always be in my heart. My deepest condolences to the Cotton family. You welcomed me with open arms and the love and warmth of your acceptance as a young woman was overwhelmingly special. I will always cherish the long talks with Dot, and the image of Mr. Cotton coming downstairs to the kitchen to say hello. Erika, you are like a sister to me. I will always love you. Free you are truly Free now.
