Freeman Gaines Jr.

Our beloved Mr. Freeman Gaines, Jr., 78, affectionately known as Junior by family and friends transitioned from Earth to Glory on June 20, 2023.
Mr. Freeman was born on October 9, 1944 in Anderson SC to the late Mr. Freeman Gaines Sr and Cannie Mance Gaines. He was the widower of the late Erma Jean Keener Gaines.
Mr. Freeman received his former education at the old Westside High School. While in attendance there, he was a part of the football team as a kicker. This is where he also met his favorite track star, Erma Jean Keener. After high school, Mr. Freeman began his career in manufacturing and retired after 30 plus years from Kroeger Bakery.
He was an avid golfer and fisher in his spare time and on any given day, you can find him watching sports or a good western as he would say. He also had hands that were blessed and a good heart to bless those in need.
Mr. Freeman Gaines leaves behind to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy, his children, Terrance Anthony Gaines, Sgt Major (Ret) Ricky Bernard Gaines Sr, Janesta L (Marvin) Fant, Paula Lynn (Tarson) Bell, Master Sgt (Ret) Crystal V (Michael) Williams. Four sisters Josey M Gaines, Mary (Alvin) Greenlee. Suzanne (Ronnie)Alexander, Nettie (Ed) Foster, 13 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom he cherished dearly.
Mr. Freeman Gaines was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter Doretha L Hudson, granddaughter Rhondalyn Yvette, four sister, Leora Alexander, Izonia Williford, Corrine Fowler and Minnie Ruth Reed.

Family, friends, and any others whose lives Mr. Freeman touched are invited to celebrate his life on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson with the interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Anderson, SC.
Public viewing will be Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the mortuary.
