Roy Morris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Unity Mortuary of Anderson on Feb. 9, 2026.
Family and friends gathered today to honor the life of SSG Roy Daniel Morris. Born on February 15, 1960, Roy was the elder of twin sons to the late Ervin Morris Jr and Rosa Morris Jones. He was united in holy matrimony to Diane Jones Morris for 26 years, and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Danielle and Lindsey Morris.

The legacy of Roy's love and dedication will continue to live on through his daughters, his mother, Rosa Morris Jones; his twin brother, Ray Samuel Morris; and his sister, Debra (Pastor Lavant) Morris Gibson. He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Morris Jr, and his youngest brother, Theo Morris. Roy leaves behind a large and loving family, including his nieces, Misha Johnson, and Tiffany Gibson; his nephews, Shaun and Shane Morris, O'Shaunessy and LaDetric Gibson; his mother-in-law, Shirley Jones; and sister-in-law, Minister Durecelle O'Kelley. Also, uncles and aunts Sammy Robinson of Batesburg, SC, David and Lilly Morris, Herman Morris and Dorothy Morris along with many cousins, family and friends who will forever cherish their memories of him.

Roy's journey of faith began in his early years when he joined Ozion Baptist Church. Roy graduated from Seneca High School in 1978 and in August 1978, he heeded the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Military accolades include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Driver Badge as well as a M-16 Expert Badge. After a dedicated military career, Roy retired from the Army, and he transitioned into a civilian role in 1984 working for many years as a lineman for Blue Ridge Electric until his final retirement. Roy enjoyed Nascar racing and Clemson football. Roy's passion for life was evident in his love for his family, his pastor, friends, and church family. He found immense joy in spending quality time with them.

Roy's unwavering commitment and love have left a mark on all who knew him. His memory will forever be a source of comfort to his family and friends.
