Freeman Williams Obituary
He was born on November 9, 1940 in West Frankfort to Freeman and Pearl (Sweetin) Williams. He worked for many years in the coal mines were he was known as "Rock" and was a member of the UMWA. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in West Frankfort, being named Master Mason in 2010. Freeman previously worked at the 149 Grill when he was in high school. He enjoyed doing yard work and loved his home.
Freeman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; and sister, Carolyn Sutton.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, whom he married on May 11, 1962 and they shared 63 years of marriage; daughter, Amy (Michael) Prather; brothers, Robert Williams and Gary Bruce Williams; and a grandchild, Callan Michael Prather.
Services will be held on Friday January 9, 2026 in the Union Funeral Home- West Frankfort at 2:00pm with Brother Mike Cash officiating. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 1961 of Orient and the Zeigler Post 177. Masonic Rites will be accorded at 1:30pm at the funeral. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service.
