Frits "Fritsy" Snijdewind, age 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 8, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of the Netherlands and longtime resident of Houma, La.
A celebration of life will be held privately by the family.
Frits is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Teresa Scricca Snijdewind; step-sons, Clayton Voisin, Jr. (Mona), Thomas Voisin (Shelby Rogers); daughter-in-law, Shannon Voisin; grandchildren, Harlee Voisin, Dustin McClendon, Kristen Dumond, Brianna Landrum, Logan Voisin, Victoria Voisin; great-grandchildren, Avery, Jagger, Enerel "Ellie", Enkhzaya "Zaya", Aleise, Malli, Kasen, Kamryn, Noah, Vivian, Lilly.
Frits is preceded in death by his parents, Fredericus Snijdewind and Guurtje Klaasen Snijdewind; brother, Gus Snijdwind; sister, Marijan Snijdewind; grand-daughters, Mandy Witko, Gracelyn Voisin.
Frits dedicated 44 years of his career to the airline industry as a Crew Chief, beginning with TWA and later continuing with American Airlines. His passion for aviation was matched only by his love for travel, which he shared with his devoted wife, Teresa, with whom he spent 35 joyous years. Together, they explored many beautiful destinations, creating lasting memories that will forever be cherished.
A loving father and grandfather, Frits was affectionately known as "Opa" to his grandchildren. He had a contagious laugh that could light up a room and a remarkable talent for impersonating Donald Duck, bringing smiles to the faces of those around him, especially the children. Frits also found joy in watching European futbol, where he passionately supported his favorite teams.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will be forever held in the hearts of his family and friends.
