TJ Nelson

TJ Nelson, 88, of Houma, LA, entered into his eternal rest on March 9, 2026, with his loving family by his side. TJ was born on August 30, 1937, in Hammond, LA, to parents, William and Olivia Nelson.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Annunciata Catholic Church from 9 AM to 11 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.

To cherish TJ's memories is his beloved wife of 66 years, Barbara Songy Nelson, his children; Melinda Carrere (Ricardo) and Bruce Nelson, grandchildren;, Bradon Carrere (Jeanne-Claire), Jonathon Carrere (Jade), Brittany Hortin (Michael), Amber Nelson, Dylan Nelson and Kaelin Smith (Emmeth Jr.), and 10 great grandchildren.

TJ is reunited in Heaven with his son, Bryan Nelson, parents, William and Olivia Nelson, his mother and father-in-law, Roland and Leona Songy, grandson, Terrel Carrere, siblings; Helen Mastin, Evelyn Wadsworth and Margaret Ann Nelson.

TJ proudly served as the Grand Knight with the KC Council 10612, as well as Faithful Navigator of the 4th degree with Holy Family Assembly, reflecting his deep commitment to faith and fellowship. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America and worked for over 30 years with Texaco as a Pumper. Above all he was a family man who loved his family whole heartly.
