Lonnie and sometimes Marty, as he was known to all of his friends was born Froylan Martinez in December of 1926 in Colfax county Dawson, New Mexico. Marty passed away quietly on the evening of October 22, 2021. He truly was a remarkable man. Having served his country in WWII, the Korean conflict, and Viet Nam, he returned home to become an honorable Christian, husband, father, brother, son, friend and quite a story teller.
Froylan is preceded in death by his son John Felix, and survived by his wife Clara Martinez, sons; Froylan Martinez Jr. (wife Georgia), David L. Martinez (wife Clarissa), James P. Martinez (wife Lex), and Daniel S. Martinez (wife Liza Marie).
He is also survived by many Grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A rosary will be held at Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday evening November 9th, with a viewing beginning at 6:00 pm followed by the rosary at 7:00 pm. Located at 7595 N Federal Blvd, Westminster, CO 80030.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on November 10th at Holy Trinity. A reception will follow the service in the reception hall from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The honorable burial will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery located in Denver, CO at 4400 W Kenyon Ave, 80236 at 2:00 pm.

Uncle Lon belonged to that generation who's values and world view were tempered and informed by the Great Depression and the Second World War. To me, he was always larger than life, a giant, with the stories to match. Hunting trips with him, my dad and my cousins Lonnie and David are among my most treasured memories...for me it was never the hunting, it was always the stories around the fire. I will miss my uncle but always treasure the memory of that storyteller with the great big heart. I love you Uncle Lon, Rest In Peace.
