Furman Laverne "Buddy" Gainey passed away on December 6, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. Born on October 10, 1956, in Darlington, SC, Buddy lived a life rich with love for his family and devotion to his passions.
Buddy's career revolved around his deep-rooted love for farming, a profession that brought him great joy and fulfillment. He spent countless hours tending to his fields and livestock, embodying the hard work and dedication that farming requires. Beyond his professional life, Buddy cherished the simple pleasures; he enjoyed riding in his truck while checking on his cows, gardening, and fishing. He also found joy in watching westerns on television.
Left to cherish his memory daughter, Tracy Gainey, and his son, Chad Gainey, both residing in Hartsville. Buddy was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Landon Mims (Logan), Garret Mims (Audrey), both from Hartsville and Abbigail Gainey, who lives in West Virginia. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike Gainey (Renee), Hartsville and a special niece, Jen Gandy, who will forever hold his memory dear.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Marion Furman Gainey and Beatrice Bell Gainey, three sisters, Bobbie Ann, Debbie Jean, and Joann.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Norton Funeral Home and Crematory in Hartsville, SC. Mr. Steve Winburn will officiate. Visitation will follow the services at the funeral Home.
