Mr. James Edward Gainey, 71, went to be with The Lord on Friday morning, February 27th, 2026, while at home.
A native and lifelong resident of Hartsville, Mr. Gainey was a son of the late Jessie “Buddy” and Mary Jane Gainey. For years, James followed NASCAR and enjoyed working on cars. He was a true family man, who always looked forward to spending each Saturday with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed when he and his wife listened to music, especially “The Oldies.”
Surviving is his wife, Barbara Faye Gainey; daughter, Lynn (Chris) Ham; grandchildren, Kevin Ham and Mark Ham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kelly Ann Gainey Wyatt; grandchild, Bentley Wyatt; and a brother, Donnie Ray Gainey.
His service will be conducted at 3 o’clock on Monday afternoon, March 2nd, 2026, by the graveside of Piney Plain Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend William Griggs and Mr. Wilford Griggs will officiate, and the family will speak with friends following the service at the graveside.
