It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sister, Lana Cheryl Keith. Lana passed away on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026, while at MUSC Health – Florence Medical Center. She was 76 years old.
Lana was born on May 17th. 1949, in Florence, SC, but was raised and lived all her life in Society Hill, SC.
She never married, but loved her family dearly. She often told us that she prayed for us daily. Lana loved doing word puzzles and reading her Scriptures. She enjoyed watching Food Network, QVC, and Westerns on TV. She also enjoyed eating and living in her home in Society Hill. Another enjoyment of hers were flowers and animals. She was blessed to have her cat, “Big John,” by her side for 14 years. He provided much comfort to her. Holidays were always a favorite time of hers, especially Christmas. She also enjoyed shopping with her mom and dad.
Lana graduated high school from St. John’s High School in Darlington in 1968. She was employed by several department stores in Cheraw and Bennettsville. She also worked with our mom for several years at the store they managed in Bennettsville. Lana had a big heart, but also suffered at times with anxiety. This proved to be very challenging for her throughout her life. She could also be very funny and would say things that would make us all laugh. We often said she could have been a standup comedian. She really enjoyed making us laugh and this helped her feel better about herself.
Lana was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cheraw, SC. She loved The Lord Jesus Christ and faithfully prayed, read her scriptures, and kept her Baptismal Covenants throughout her life.
Lana was preceded in death by her mother, Betty B. Keith and father, Luther O. Keith. Also preceding her was her brother, Larry O. Keith.
She is survived by her siblings: Diane (Danny) Moore of Florence, Alice (Evans) Williams of Blenheim, and G. Michael (Teresa) Keith of Florence. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a special uncle, Bob Braddock of Hartsville.
The family will privately gather at the Society Hill Latter-Day Saints Cemetery to honor and reflect on the life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the LDS Cemetery – PO Box 497, Society Hill, SC 29593.
Norton Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to be with the Keith family during this time.
