G. Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
G. William "Bill" Turner, 83, of Naperville, Illinois, and Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on December 6, 1941. He was the adored, only child of Vera (Beigel) Turner and George Turner. Bill grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1964 with a Business Degree in Sales and Marketing. While in attendance at Bowling Green, Bill was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Following graduation, on October 3, 1964, Bill married Susan (Rollius) Turner, the love of his life. Susan's warm heart, intelligence and sparkle were a perfect match for Bill, bringing him nearly 61 years of laughter and joy.
Bill began working at R. E. Kramig & Co., Inc. and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves where he served as a radio operator. Shortly after, Bill transitioned to a role with Hyland Labs, a division of Baxter Healthcare Corporation, marking the beginning of a long tenure in medical laboratory diagnostics.
In 1971, Bill and Susan took a transfer to Naperville, Illinois, where Bill continued his career with Baxter Healthcare Corporation. He later took a role as National Group Sales Manager at Syva, a division of Syntex Company, and continued his role when it was acquired by Behring Diagnostics.
Upon retirement, Bill and Susan spent their winters in Bonita Springs, Florida, where Bill was an active member of the Barefoot Beach Club. Always smiling, ready with a kind word or a light-hearted story and a friend to all, Bill served as both president and member of the beach club board for multiple terms. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Friends of Barefoot Beach and took great pride in serving as a marshal at various professional golf tournaments in the area.
An avid golfer, Vasari Country Club was a special place for Bill, where he found both joy in the game and camaraderie amongst friends. Bill celebrated a memorable hole-in-one on the 14th hole on January 31, 2022. He also enjoyed bocce ball.
Always a Chicago sports fan, Bill enthusiastically cheered for the Bears and the Cubs - through every high and heartbreak and never missed a chance to discuss a play or watch a game.
Above all, Bill's grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He loved to watch and was always there to support his grandchildren in their many sports and activities. Bill's grandchildren would easily say "Papa" was their biggest fan.
Bill was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville, where he served as an usher for many years, and The First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs.
Bill is survived by his adoring wife, Susan (Rollius) Turner; his loving children, Stephanie (Jay) Greening and Glen (Kristen) Turner; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrea (Aaron) Milosch, Amanda Greening, Zachary Greening, Charlotte Turner, and Gavin Turner. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Vera (Beigel) Turner and George Turner. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His fun-loving nature, heartfelt generosity and strong integrity will remain in our hearts forever.
We will honor Bill at a memorial service on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville at 4pm. A visitation will be held immediately prior, starting at 3pm. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the service. A celebration of life will also be held in Bonita Springs, Florida, at a later date.
