Gabriel Mirescu

Dr. Gabriel Mirescu, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed surgeon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was 81 years old.

Born on March 2, 1944, in Bucharest, Romania, Gabriel emigrated to the United States in 1971 with his wife, Liliana, to build a new life and career rooted in healing, compassion, and service. Together they proudly raised three children-Alexander, Christian, and Katherine-who, along with their partners Montserrat, T'sera, and Sanden, and their children Sabina, Ellis, Julian, and Felix, were the joy of his life.

A pillar of the Toms River community since 1977, Dr. Mirescu served for decades as a general and vascular surgeon at Community Medical Center, where his skill, kindness, and deep commitment to his patients left a lasting impact on countless families and medical professionals alike. Beyond his profession, he was known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved and sustained a lifelong passion for fine art and classical music.

He will be remembered always for his remarkable life, his healing hands, and his enduring love for his family-leaving behind an inspiring legacy to all.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 1:00pm at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.

A graveside burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boston University's Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Center or to Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church of Toms River.
