Gabriel Pena, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and successful business owner, passed away on January 24, 2025, surrounded by family. He was 90 years old.
Born in Los Angeles on March 24, 1934, Gabriel moved with his family to the Central Valley as a young child. He grew up in the Orosi/Cutler area, where the values of hard work and dedication were instilled in him amidst the rich agricultural community. After graduating from Orosi High School in 1952, he attended Reedley College before serving as a communications officer in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served until 1960. Upon his honorable discharge, Gabriel returned to Orosi, where he and his wife, Loretta, built a business together and raised a family. He spent the next 65 years creating a legacy in the community he loved.
Gabriel was the proud father of his son, Arthur, and daughter, Yevette, and is survived by his brother Frank, and sister Martha. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Gabriel was preceded in death by his wife Loretta, and five siblings.
A true pillar of Orosi and the surrounding communities, Gabriel was known for his sharp business acumen and unwavering commitment to family, farming, and hard work. His entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to realize the American Dream — a dream many strive for but few achieve. Outside of his business endeavors, Gabriel enjoyed golf, gambling, and, above all, spending quality time with his family and friends.
The Pena family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated caregivers who were part of Gabriel's care team. Their kindness, compassion, and support during his final days will never be forgotten.
Gabriel's legacy will live on through his family and the community he helped shape. He will be deeply missed, but always remembered with love and admiration.
